About

Seamus Millar is a versatile upright and electric bassist from London Ontario, recognized for his ability to adapt across genres and settings. While jazz is his specialty—encompassing swing, bebop, and Latin jazz—his playing also extends into pop, rock, funk, and Broadway-style musical theatre, making him a sought-after collaborator for a wide range of ensembles.

Seamus has performed with multiple university-level jazz bands, including the University of Western Ontario Jazz Band—where he was selected as the only high school student—and the Wilfrid Laurier University Jazz Band. He was awarded the Most Valued Musician Scholarship in high school and won the Ausie Carter Trophy at the Kiwanis Music Festival for best jazz band solo performance.

As a pit musician, he has played bass for productions with Theatre Woodstock, and he has worked as both a performer and band manager in contemporary settings, contributing to original music and live shows across Ontario. He also served as Principal Bassist of the London Youth Symphony for several years, where he gained valuable experience performing complex orchestral repertoire and developing strong ensemble and sight‑reading skills.

With a foundation that blends formal training, live performance, and collaborative experience, Seamus continues to build a career as a professional bassist experienced in supporting guest artists, playing production shows, and providing groove, adaptability, and professionalism to any stage.
